Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · III PureTech 130 (2020+, facelift 2024)

Citroën C4

C-segment model on the CMP platform from Stellantis, a cross between hatchback and crossover with raised seating. The common petrol is the PureTech 130 (1.2 three-cylinder turbo); below it sits a PureTech 100. The 2024 facelift renewed the front and the interior, not the drivetrain. WLTP consumption around 5.7 l/100km (manufacturer figure, indicative); owners report 6.3-6.8 l/100km in mixed use (public forums, not measured by us). Shares the body with the electric ë-C4. Boot 380 l.

Profile · II (facelift 2023, 51 kWh)

Peugeot e-208

The cheapest way into a new, electric Peugeot is also the smallest one: an ordinary hatchback on the e-CMP platform, with a 51 kWh battery and roughly 410 km WLTP. The trade-off is that this entry point sets no space records and cannot tow; charging runs at 100 kW DC, fine but not fast by 2024 standards.
