In depth

Strong point is a low urban fuel use and the Toyota hybrid reliability reputation; weak point is the modest rear space and the low towing weight (725 kg braked). Indicative starting price.

About the Toyota C-HR (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The second-generation C-HR (from 2023) is a full-hybrid crossover without a plug. The 1.8 drivetrain delivers about 140 hp system power and charges the battery via braking and the petrol engine. The braked towing weight is low at 725 kg; a caravan is out, a light luggage trailer is possible.

In practice

WLTP is about 4.7 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). In and around the city the hybrid does well; on the motorway the advantage largely disappears and the fuel use rises. The sloping roofline costs rearward visibility and headroom on the rear seat, a recurring point in owner reviews. The indicative list price rose from about 34,495 euro (reference date early 2024) to 35,995 euro now, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

The boot is on the tight side for the segment at 364 litres. The rear seat is dark due to the small windows. On long motorway drives the hybrid advantage is small, weigh this up if you mainly cover kilometres on the motorway.
