Fast charging at a public charger (10→80%)

Fast charging on the road (DC = the rapid charger you find at motorway stops, not home charging): indicative time from 10 to 80 percent, calculated from the specs — not measured by us. Actual time varies with charger, temperature and battery level at the start. The 10→80% window is the standard benchmark because the final stretch (80→100%) deliberately charges slower to protect the battery.
Charging situation10→80% (minutes)
At the car's own maximum charging rate (130 kW) ~ 34
At a 150 kW charger ~ 34
At a 50 kW charger ~ 88
How is this calculated? We assume around 70% of the battery sits in the 10→80% window and an average power around 62% of peak (the curve tapers towards the end). At a fixed charger the power is capped to that charger. An estimate, not a manufacturer figure.

Charging at home uses AC power and is slower: a home wallbox typically delivers 7.4 to 11 kW. That is separate from the fast-charge times shown above.

Frequently asked

What does the MINI Countryman cost roughly?

Indicative starting price € 42,900 (reference date 2026-05-18). Not an offer.

What is the WLTP range of the MINI Countryman?

462 km WLTP (manufacturer figure). Owners typically report less in everyday driving, especially in cold weather. See the reviews below.

How much can the MINI Countryman tow?

1200 kg braked (with trailer brakes) — the figure that applies when your trailer (such as a caravan) has its own brakes. Manufacturer figure; the exact, binding limit for a specific car is on its registration document.

How long does fast-charging the MINI Countryman take (10→80%)?

Roughly 34 minutes on a 130 kW charger (10→80%, factory calculation, indicative). Actual time depends on battery temperature and the charging curve — the car's charging speed drops as the battery fills.

How big is the battery in the MINI Countryman?

64.7 kWh usable capacity (manufacturer figure). Check the warranty terms of the specific car for capacity retention.

What does the MINI Countryman use in real-world driving?

The factory WLTP figure is 16.4 kWh/100 km. Owners typically report more in mixed use, with the usual winter penalty. See the owner experiences below.

How much boot space does the MINI Countryman have?

460 litres (manufacturer figure). See the spec sheet for the full dimensions.

In depth

The Countryman E (Cooper SE) has about 204 hp and a 64.7 kWh net battery. WLTP around 462 km (manufacturer figure, indicative); winter range is lower according to owners (public forums, not measured by us). Shares UKL platform with BMW X1 and iX1.

About the MINI Countryman E (U25, 2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The U25 is the third Countryman generation, now built in Leipzig on the UKL platform that also underpins the BMW X1 and iX1. The Countryman E delivers about 204 hp from the 64.7 kWh net battery. The body has grown noticeably compared to the previous Countryman, moving towards the compact SUV size of the iX1.

In practice

The WLTP figure is about 462 km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). DC charging peaks around 130 kW; 10-80% takes about 30 minutes under favourable conditions (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). Owners report a noticeably lower range in winter (public forums, limited n, not measured by us). The indicative list price rose from about 41,500 euro (reference date early 2024) to 42,900 euro now; this is a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

The braked towing weight of 1,200 kg is limited for an SUV; check it for caravan use against your actual weight. Body and battery weight push the consumption above that of a comparable sedan. The interior centres on a round OLED screen without analogue instruments; whether that works pleasantly is a matter of taste, check it on a test drive at the official dealer.
