Category scores

These are our own numbers, not the manufacturer’s stars. The scale runs from 0 to 100, higher is better, and every figure carries a source with a reference date. Which category weighs more for you is something you know better than we do. How these scores work.

  • Sustainability 75/100
Sustainability: 75 of 100. Source and reference date source: WLTP consumption + Ford battery warranty (8 yr/160.000 km) + European production Cologne · reference date 2026-05-21
  • Reliability not yet rated
Reliability: insufficient data. Why no score? source: Too recent in production; first Ford MEB year, no stable ADAC or RDW data per trim yet · reference date 2026-05-21
  • Fuel economy 78/100
Fuel economy: 78 of 100. Source and reference date source: WLTP 13,3 kWh/100km versus mid-range EV-SUV segment (manufacturer figure, indicative) · reference date 2026-05-21

Fast charging at a public charger (10→80%)

Fast charging on the road (DC = the rapid charger you find at motorway stops, not home charging): indicative time from 10 to 80 percent, calculated from the specs — not measured by us. Actual time varies with charger, temperature and battery level at the start. The 10→80% window is the standard benchmark because the final stretch (80→100%) deliberately charges slower to protect the battery.
Charging situation10→80% (minutes)
At the car's own maximum charging rate (135 kW) ~ 39
At a 150 kW charger ~ 39
At a 50 kW charger ~ 104
How is this calculated? We assume around 70% of the battery sits in the 10→80% window and an average power around 62% of peak (the curve tapers towards the end). At a fixed charger the power is capped to that charger. An estimate, not a manufacturer figure.

Charging at home uses AC power and is slower: a home wallbox typically delivers 7.4 to 11 kW. That is separate from the fast-charge times shown above.

Frequently asked

What does the Ford Capri cost roughly?

Indicative starting price € 50,911 (reference date 2026-05-21). Not an offer.

What is the WLTP range of the Ford Capri?

627 km WLTP (manufacturer figure). Owners typically report less in everyday driving, especially in cold weather. See the reviews below.

How much can the Ford Capri tow?

1000 kg braked (with trailer brakes) — the figure that applies when your trailer (such as a caravan) has its own brakes. Manufacturer figure; the exact, binding limit for a specific car is on its registration document.

How long does fast-charging the Ford Capri take (10→80%)?

Roughly 39 minutes on a 135 kW charger (10→80%, factory calculation, indicative). Actual time depends on battery temperature and the charging curve — the car's charging speed drops as the battery fills.

How big is the battery in the Ford Capri?

77 kWh usable capacity (manufacturer figure). Check the warranty terms of the specific car for capacity retention.

What does the Ford Capri use in real-world driving?

The factory WLTP figure is 13.3 kWh/100 km. Owners typically report more in mixed use, with the usual winter penalty. See the owner experiences below.

How much boot space does the Ford Capri have?

572 litres (manufacturer figure). See the spec sheet for the full dimensions.

In depth

Production in Cologne (DE). The Extended Range RWD manages around 627 km WLTP with a 77 kWh net battery and a 286 hp rear motor. Revival of an old nameplate in EV form.

About the Ford Capri EV (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

Ford revives the Capri nameplate as a battery-electric coupe-SUV. The platform is the Volkswagen Group MEB; underneath the Capri is effectively a Volkswagen ID.5 with Ford bodywork and a Ford-tuned interior and software stack. Production runs at Ford's Cologne plant in Germany.

In practice

The Extended Range RWD uses a 77 kWh net battery and a 286 hp rear motor; WLTP range is around 627 km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). DC charging peaks at 135 kW; 10-80% takes about 28 minutes (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). Boot space is 572 litres (manufacturer figure). The indicative starting price is around 50,911 euro in Germany; this is a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast. A cheaper Standard Range RWD has also been announced; pricing of that variant is not yet final.

Points to note

Braked towing weight of 1,000 kg is modest for a 4.63 m SUV; check it against your actual caravan weight. The shared MEB underpinnings are familiar from the ID.4 and ID.5 in service; Ford's software stack has been recently revised. Long-term reliability for the Ford-Volkswagen combination is by definition still building up; consult RDW recalls and ADAC Pannenstatistik on later refresh.
