Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · III (2020-, 42 kWh)

Fiat 500e

Electric A-segment hatchback on a dedicated EV platform (no petrol variant of this generation). The large 42 kWh pack reaches around 320 km WLTP (manufacturer figure, indicative); a smaller 24 kWh pack is more limited. DC charging up to about 85 kW. City car with a small boot. Indicative from-price, check the official configurator.

Profile · facelift (2020-2023, 32 kWh)

Volkswagen e-up!

Compact city EV on the A0 platform, shared with the Skoda Citigo-e iV and Seat Mii electric. The 2020 facelift brought a larger 32 kWh net battery pack and around 260 km WLTP (manufacturer figure, indicative). VW ended production in 2023. Reference model for spec look-up; no current new price. Owners report clearly less range in winter (public forums, not measured by us).
