In depth

1.6 GDI plus electric motor with 8.9 kWh battery around 141 hp system; electric WLTP range 48 km. The WLTP figure of 1.3 l/100km applies only with a full battery. With an empty battery the car drives like a hybrid; then count on 5-6 l/100km (owner figure, not measured by us). Indicative from-price; check the official configurator for the current figure.

About the Kia XCeed (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The XCeed is a compact crossover that shares its mechanicals with the Ceed. In Europe it is sold as a plug-in hybrid alongside the regular petrol versions; this entry covers the PHEV. The drivetrain combines a 1.6 GDI four-cylinder with an electric motor and an 8.9 kWh battery for around 141 hp system. Electric WLTP range stands at 48 km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us).

In practice

The WLTP figure of 1.3 l/100km is only achievable for those who charge often and drive short trips. Those who rarely fill the battery in fact drive a hybrid. With an empty battery owners report around 5.5 l/100km in hybrid mode (owner forums, n approximately 14, not measured by us). The boot is 291 l, modest because of the battery under the load floor. The indicative list price rose from about 32,995 euro (reference date early 2024) to 33,995 euro now, a from-price, no offer and no forecast.

Points to note

Charging goes only on alternating current; fast charging is not possible. Calculate for yourself whether you use the electric range in practice before you put this variant above the regular petrol. The braked towing weight of 1,300 kg is reasonable for the segment. The boot at 291 l is noticeably smaller than the regular XCeed petrol, weigh this against the electric range gain.
