About the BMW X1 xDrive25e (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The U11 X1 shares its platform with the iX1 and the MINI Countryman. The xDrive25e combines a petrol three-cylinder with an electric motor on the rear axle; together they deliver about 245 hp. With the 14.2 kWh net battery the WLTP electric range is about 89 km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us).

In practice

The WLTP combined consumption figure of 0.8 l/100km assumes a regularly charged battery; without charging owners report 7 to 8 l/100km (public forums, not measured by us). DC charging is not available, AC tops out at 7.4 kW. The braked towing weight of 1,700 kg is decent for a compact SUV. The indicative list price rose from about 49,500 euro (reference date early 2024) to 51,900 euro now; this is a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

PHEV economy depends on charging discipline; without daily plug-ins the consumption approaches that of a comparable petrol SUV. The boot loses about 50 litres to the battery compared with the regular X1. The iDrive 9 controls move many functions to the screen; whether that works pleasantly is a matter of taste, check it on a test drive at the official dealer.
