About the Toyota Prius IV (XW50, 2016-2022)
This model is no longer available as a new car. It is in the database as a historical reference: for looking up specifications and as a comparison point. There is deliberately no new price and no buy button; we are not a marketplace and do not broker second-hand purchases. The introduction price (2016) is purely historical context, not a current value.
The fourth Prius is a full hybrid: a 1.8 petrol engine and electric motors with around 122 hp system power, without a plug. The car charges the high-voltage battery itself via braking energy and the petrol engine. The stated WLTP fuel use is around 4.2 l/100km (manufacturer figure); the older NEDC figure was lower and is not comparable.
In practice
Owners historically report around 4.6 l/100km in mixed annual use (owner forums, n≈25, not measured by us), slightly above the WLTP figure but low for the class. The Prius drivetrain has historically been well rated in the ADAC breakdown statistics; that underpins the reliability score, with source cited. The braked towing weight is not relevant: the XW50 is not homologated for a trailer in most versions, hence 0.
Points to note
In the event of a second-hand choice, the condition of the high-voltage battery, the maintenance history and the tyre profile (low rolling resistance) are the points of attention. The fiscal and cycle data date from the 2016-2022 period and are indicative. We do not broker second-hand purchases.
