Fast charging at a public charger (10→80%)

Fast charging on the road (DC = the rapid charger you find at motorway stops, not home charging): indicative time from 10 to 80 percent, calculated from the specs — not measured by us. Actual time varies with charger, temperature and battery level at the start. The 10→80% window is the standard benchmark because the final stretch (80→100%) deliberately charges slower to protect the battery.
Charging situation10→80% (minutes)
At the car's own maximum charging rate (92 kW) ~ 50
At a 150 kW charger ~ 50
At a 50 kW charger ~ 93
How is this calculated? We assume around 70% of the battery sits in the 10→80% window and an average power around 62% of peak (the curve tapers towards the end). At a fixed charger the power is capped to that charger. An estimate, not a manufacturer figure.

Charging at home uses AC power and is slower: a home wallbox typically delivers 7.4 to 11 kW. That is separate from the fast-charge times shown above.

Frequently asked

What does the MG ZS EV cost roughly?

Indicative starting price € 32,990 (reference date 2026-05-18). Not an offer.

What is the WLTP range of the MG ZS EV?

440 km WLTP (manufacturer figure). Owners typically report less in everyday driving, especially in cold weather. See the reviews below.

How much can the MG ZS EV tow?

500 kg braked (with trailer brakes) — the figure that applies when your trailer (such as a caravan) has its own brakes. Manufacturer figure; the exact, binding limit for a specific car is on its registration document.

How long does fast-charging the MG ZS EV take (10→80%)?

Roughly 50 minutes on a 92 kW charger (10→80%, factory calculation, indicative). Actual time depends on battery temperature and the charging curve — the car's charging speed drops as the battery fills.

How big is the battery in the MG ZS EV?

68.3 kWh usable capacity (manufacturer figure). Check the warranty terms of the specific car for capacity retention.

What does the MG ZS EV use in real-world driving?

The factory WLTP figure is 17 kWh/100 km. Owners typically report more in mixed use, with the usual winter penalty. See the owner experiences below.

How much boot space does the MG ZS EV have?

In depth

DC charging up to about 92 kW. A smaller 51 kWh pack is available below the Long Range. Indicative starting price for the Standard Range, check the official configurator for the current figure per version.

About the MG ZS EV (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The MG ZS EV came to market in 2019 and went through a thorough revision in 2022. The second generation has a larger battery: 68.3 kWh net in the Long Range version, NMC chemistry, with a WLTP range of around 440 km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). Below it sits a Standard Range with around 51 kWh, with a shorter range. DC charging on the Long Range is to around 92 kW, modest by current standards. Boot 359 l, braked towing weight 500 kg, low like many EVs in this segment.

In practice

Owner forums report real-world consumption around 17 to 19 kWh/100km in mixed use, higher in winter and on the motorway (not measured by us, varying sample). The infotainment software drew mixed reactions in owner reports for the first generation, the 2022 revision brought a new central screen and other layout. The indicative list price stands at 32,990 euro for the Standard Range, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

Range and DC charging speed differ noticeably between Standard Range and Long Range, check which battery goes with the quoted price at the official dealer. The MG service network is now spread across most EU markets but is less dense than the established brands; check the nearest service point. ADAC published a failure statistic for the first generation with somewhat below-average reliability, the 2022 generation is too new for reliable separate data.
