About the Honda Civic e:HEV (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The eleventh Civic is in Europe available only as an e:HEV full hybrid. The system works differently from a classic parallel hybrid: the 2.0 petrol engine usually serves as a generator that feeds the battery and the electric motor, and only couples mechanically at higher speed. System power is 184 hp and WLTP consumption stands at about 5.0 l/100km (manufacturer figure), low for the segment.

In practice

WLTP consumption is 5.0 l/100km (manufacturer figure). In mixed traffic over a whole year owners report mixed around 5.6 l/100km (owner forums, n≈22, not measured by us); the difference between WLTP and practice is usually smaller on this type of hybrid than on a plug-in. The boot measures 410 l in the hatchback. The indicative list price rose from about 38,490 euro (reference date early 2024) to 39,990 euro now, a from-price, no offer and no forecast.

Points to note

Honda does not release the Civic e:HEV in Europe to tow a trailer; the braked towing weight is therefore set at 0 kg, check this against the official figure if towing is a requirement. Under hard acceleration the drivetrain lets the engine revs rise independently of speed, a characteristic that recurs in owner reports as a point to get used to. City consumption works out favourably, the motorway advantage is smaller because the petrol engine then more often runs along directly.
