About the Cupra Formentor (2024)
Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.
The Formentor sits on the Volkswagen Group MQB Evo platform, the same base as the Tiguan and the Seat Ateca, but with its own body and its own setup. The model came to market in 2020 and had a facelift in 2024. The petrol range starts at the 1.5 eTSI 150: a four-cylinder turbo with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed DSG, WLTP around 6.2 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). Above that sit the 2.0 TSI versions in increasing power steps and the VZ models with all-wheel drive and up to around 333 hp. The PHEV (e-Hybrid) uses a 1.5 TSI with electric motor and around 60 km electric range.
In practice
Owner forums report real-world consumption around 7 to 8 l/100km for the 1.5 eTSI on the motorway, depending on driving style (not measured by us, varying sample). The VZ versions are considerably thirstier; the PHEV depends on charging behaviour. The 420 l boot is average for the segment, braked towing weight 1,800 kg is high for a coupé SUV of this size. The indicative list price stands at 39,990 euro, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.
Points to note
Infotainment software stems from the MQB Evo generation and drew mixed reactions in owner reports at introduction; later updates fixed part of the complaints. Trims and engine options vary strongly per market; check exactly which version goes with the current quote at the official dealer.
