Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · K 1.4 LPG (2015-2021)

Opel Astra

Astra K with a factory-fitted 1.4 turbo LPG installation (bi-fuel, 2015-2021). Reference model for spec lookup and switch orientation. LPG consumption per 100 km is higher than petrol (7.6 vs 5.8 l/100km, NEDC era indicative), the price per litre is lower. Known age-related point: wear of the LPG vaporiser at high mileage (owner reports, historical).

Profile · IV 1.5 TSI (Typ KL, 2020-)

SEAT Leon

C-segment hatchback on the MQB-Evo platform, shared with the Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia among others. The 1.5 TSI with 150 hp is the common petrol engine, with cylinder deactivation. WLTP consumption around 5.7 l/100km (manufacturer figure indicative); owners report 6.5-7 l/100km mixed (public forums not measured by us). Boot 380 l is average for the class, the Sportstourer estate version offers more.
